There some alternative ways of payment for your counselling sessions if you are not able to afford to pay a full fee.
Extended Medical Plan
Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC) services are not covered by MSP, however, they might be covered by your extended health care plan. Great West Life, Green Shield Insurance, Sunlife Insurance, Pacific Blue Cross, Manulife and other insurance providers may get you reimbursed for the services of RCCs.
Check with your provider if your particular policy will cover your counselling sessions. If they do not list clinical counsellor’
in their policy but cover 'psychologist' or 'social worker services' or even doesn’t include any mental health practitioners services at all, you can still get your counselling services. You might still get reimbursed if you request to your employer and insurance company to adjust your plan.
In order to do this talk to your employer, HR department or insurance company and request a small change to the plan's coverage. Many of my clients have done this successfully. It won't cost anything to your company but might give you an opportunity to get your sessions reimbursed.
I can help you to put together a letter to request the change in your medical plan, so you can get free counselling services.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
EAP provides short-term professional counselling. If you would like to work with me and you have Employee Assistance Program at your work talk to your employer or directly to EAP provider and request to work with me. They will contract out me so you can receive free counselling services.
